Six things you can check before you pay
On a landing page, online English classes are hard to tell apart. Reviews and discount badges are everywhere, and the quality of the teaching only shows up after you have paid. So the six points below are limited to what you can verify yourself, on screen, before paying. 1. Of one hour, how many minutes did you actually speak — check whether they measure your speaking time, not the length of the lesson
2. Is what you did today written down — if nothing is kept, next time starts from the same place again
3. Pay on a phone, continue on a computer — your access and your progress should belong to the account, not the device
4. Is the free trial a lesson or a sales call — ask in advance whether you will actually speak during it
5. Are the refund and cancellation terms on the page — if they are not readable next to the pay button, they will not be easy to read later either
