If your mistakes keep looking the same, they are following a path your first language laid down

Korean speakers often stumble on a and the, on consonants at the ends of words, and on r and l. Speakers of Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese or Spanish stumble in other, equally predictable places. It is not laziness or a lack of talent — your first language simply divides sounds and sentences differently from English. So we first look at what your first language already does well, and for the sounds it lacks, we have you learn to hear the difference before we ask you to copy it. Instead of pointing out a mistake, we say the sentence back to you correctly. ✅

1. We start from what your first language already does well — it is a starting point, not an obstacle

🎯

2. Sounds your first language lacks are heard before they are spoken — a sound you cannot hear is hard to copy

⚡

3. Mistakes are not pointed out; you hear the sentence again, said correctly

🌟

4. The usual sticking points (a/the, final consonants, stress) come back briefly in every lesson

✅

5. Lessons are explained in English, with meaning carried by pictures and situations
