The sound you cannot say is the sound you cannot hear yet
The sounds that give you trouble are not random; they are set by the language you already speak. Korean speakers meet f and p, r and l. Japanese speakers meet a different pair, Spanish speakers another. The usual prescription is to watch a mouth and copy it a hundred times, and a hundred times often changes nothing. The reason is simple: if your first language does not use that contrast, your ear is not filing the two sounds separately in the first place, and you cannot imitate what you do not hear. So Say Global English reverses the order. First you listen to minimal pairs — ship and sheep, right and light, words that differ by exactly one sound — and choose which one you heard. What starts as a coin flip begins to split apart within days, and only then do you produce the sound yourself. A great deal of pronunciation follows on its own from there. We also treat that spot as a starting point rather than a defect: it is a habit your first language built, not a limit on you. The goal is not to sound like a native speaker but to have what you meant arrive as what you meant. 25 minutes a day, 1:1 with six AI tutors.
Trains the ear first — you start by hearing minimal pairs (ship/sheep, right/light) and choosing one
You only produce sounds you have started to hear, which saves the hundred useless repetitions
Points to where your own language overlaps English — Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish, Thai, Indonesian
Your first-language habit is a starting point, not a defect — it tells us exactly what to work on
The goal is not imitation of a native speaker but meaning that arrives intact
