What free resources can give you, and what they cannot
The English learning guides of 2026 agree on one thing: you can cover almost all of your listening and reading input without spending money. A public broadcaster learning channel, a free flashcard app, films and series with English subtitles, and podcasts are enough for a full day of input. But the same guides point out one more thing. Free resources say nothing back about the sentences you produce. That is why the amount you have read and heard keeps growing while your mouth stays where it was. So use free resources for input, and keep a separate place for output, where you speak aloud and listen back. Say English offers video lessons, quizzes, read-aloud practice and dubbing. For speaking practice, choose one of six conversation characters and answer its prepared questions in English. You can start with a free written level test and guidance in eight languages. The materials draw on the own textbooks and 26-year tradition of Huston English Academy, dating from its founding in 2000. Read sentences aloud in read-aloud practice, and try speaking along with the video in dubbing practice. Take one phrase you heard in a free resource today and say it with your own mouth this evening. That is the start.
