Your study hours went up. Your speaking hours did not.

Do the arithmetic once. An hour a day for six months is about 180 hours. Of those, how many hours did an English sentence actually leave your mouth? While you listened to lectures, memorised words and worked through exercises, your mouth was closed. That is how someone can bank 180 hours and still stall on the first sentence. The problem was not a shortage of time but what was missing inside it. Wanting to learn predicts study hours quite well. It does not predict achievement nearly as well. That gap between motivation and result is exactly where a school belongs, and it is where we change what gets measured: not how long you sat down, but how much you actually said today.
