If you have followed one speaker in a meeting perfectly and then lost every word the moment the next person began, that was not your ability collapsing. It was a map of sound with only one page. Much of the English spoken today happens between people whose first languages differ, and their vowel positions, consonant weight and sentence rhythm differ with them. Most courses, meanwhile, present one or two voices and stop there — which is exactly how someone passes the test and still cannot hear the meeting. The approach here is simple: take sentences whose meaning you already hold and hear them again in different regional voices. Because nothing has to be guessed, your brain stores only the new sound mapping. Then you say the same sentence yourself, and what you heard stays.
